This document has instructions for changing the top
of your bag from plain to ruffled.

The Ruffled Top Variation:
1) Choose a fairly narrow cord for your drawstrings. I use Venetian Blind Cord
from the hardware store which is inexpensive, easily accessible and attractive.
2) Follow the beginning steps of the pattern. When you measure from the top
before cutting the 1/2” line into the sides choose the 3” option.
3) The first change to the instructions comes after you have threaded
cording through the channels at the top of both sides of your bag.

On the front and back of the bag, use your fingers to push the cord next to the
the bottom seam of the channel.

(In these pictures translucent fabric was used so you can see the cord. In your bag, you will have to do this step by feel).

Pin the cord in place.

4) Using a zipper foot, Sew a seam 3/4” from the top of the bag, without
letting the sewing machine stitch through the cords.

6) As you pull your cords,
the top of the bag ruffles.
